The Emotional Health and Resilience Charter
The Emotional Health and Resilience Charter is based on the 8 areas of the whole-school approach to promoting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of pupils and staff. The school is able to sign and display the printed charter to show their commitment to effective mental health and wellbeing provision. After setting up a wellbeing group they complete an audit to record evidence of what is in place and identify areas for development. An action plan is then created based on need and informed by the links and information provided to support the planned interventions. Once the school has achieved meaningful outcomes based on their action plans, these can be shared with the whole school community and local partners.
This work complements the work of the Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) who work within Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs). For more information on Metal Health Support Teams MHST Ask Lion
This process can also be followed by schools who have not yet signed up to the Senior Mental Health Lead (SMHL) training and would like to make a start on a whole school review.

Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Policy Framework
Many schools have adopted a whole school approach focussed on the importance of nurturing good mental health, for both staff and young people, which incorporates a wide range of interventions. Having a Policy helps draw all these strands together in one coherent document, helping to embed practice and, in turn, support the monitoring and evaluation of provision.
Based on the Liverpool Schools Policy as used by The Anna Freud Centre, and put together in consultation with the Educational Psychology Service, MHST, and CAMHS colleagues, this Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Policy Framework is designed to be customised to reflect each school's own priorities. Referencing a range of current local and national initiatives/providers, schools should edit each section, paying particular attention to text in bold and/or italics, in order to reflect their own provision and circumstances.

Mental Health First Aid Courses from MHFA England
Youth MHFA Full Course
This 2 day Youth Mental Health First Aid course is designed for adults who work with young people aged 8-18 who would like to become Youth Mental Health First Aiders.
It is a practical skills and awareness course designed to equip learners with the skills and confidence to spot the triggers and signs of a wide range of mental health issues, and confidence to provide support and signpost to self-help or professional services.
This course is also available in an online format. It is structured around a blend of individual learning and 4 live 2 hour sessions.
Youth MHFA Champion One Day course
This one day course trains adults to become MHFA Champions. Participants gain knowledge about mental health issues and how to spot signs of mental ill health in young people. It also aims to develop skills to support young people. Also available in an online format.
Youth MHFA Awareness Half Day course
This introductory three-hour session raises awareness of young people’s mental health, enabling participants to recognise some signs of mental health distress and start a supportive conversation about mental ill health. It is also available in an online format.
